An open letter to the "leadership" of the American political left
Recently, the current public figurehead of the political left verbally excoriated a major portion of the American electorate. To some, it is quite astonishing that she would be so abusive to those who have enabled the federal government and its policies. After all, the labor of these productive people is plundered by the government, year after year. It would be rational then, to expect thanks and praise would be heaped upon them! Yet, this is the political season when rationalism and reason take a vacation.
The following has been extracted from a news report:
she claimed that half of Trump’s supporters nationally—millions of people—were a “basket of deplorables” who were “irredeemable” and “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic.”
"Some of those folks — they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America”
To one who was raised as a good liberal progressive and has observed the social and political behavior of this country for more than 4 decades, these remarks were not a surprise. The views and emotion expressed have been known by observation for years. I, for one, am gratified to be among those who are held in such esteem by this public figurehead.
Our form of government is a REPUBLIC. It is NOT a democracy. The people delegated some (not all) of THEIR political power to the federal government for specific goals which are limited in scope. The right and ability for the federal government to exist and operate proceeds from the people. IT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT WHICH CONFERS RIGHTS UPON THE CITIZENS, IT IS THE PEOPLE WHO CONFER RIGHTS UPON THE GOVERNMENT. Thus, the preamble of the constitution begins with "We the people…"
It is said that we are a nation of laws or a nation governed by laws. Most of the time, these statements bring to mind laws which are over the people of the country. It is quite remarkable then to consider that the VERY FIRST laws written are laws which define and LIMIT the scope of operation of the government formed by this constitution. The basic functioning of the government established by the constitution is to "…SECURE THE BLESSINGS OF LIBERTY…" That is all, that is it. Everything else is outside of its scope of operation.
This constitution is what the elected officials and military personnel swear to protect and defend. However, common political practice is to ignore or attack and subvert the constitution. One of the most egregious subversions of this constitution is the effort to eliminate the borders of the United States of America. The border defines the physical area of our constitutional REPUBLIC, that area where LIBERTY dominates. Without a border, the United States and its constitution does not exist. The effort to eliminate our borders is an attack on the homes, families, and persons of the United States. It is a personal attack which all too often becomes a real physical attack with deadly concequences.
Another egregious subversion of this constitution is the armed robbery of the citizens of the United States by the federal government. This armed robbery is used for purposes which are outside of the boundaries defined by the constitution. Thus these purposes are unconstitutional.
The founding fathers of this country and the constitution knew that the GREATEST ENEMY of a people is the GOVERNMENT. The federal government has certainly justified their sentiment! Those who love liberty recognize the existence of some form of government is required in order to secure and maintain liberty. If government strays from this purpose, then it becomes a pernicious tyrant.
This federal government is an armed tyrant who is the enemy of liberty. Those who love liberty dare to actively stand for the constitution and against the abusive tyrant. Those who love the federal government and worship its power desperately hate the children of liberty.
